How to Make Your Oral Hygiene Routine Better?

Posted on 2/20/2020 by Cane Bay Family Dentistry
How to Make Your Oral Hygiene Routine Better? How do you ensure the best possible healthy teeth? There's more to a pearly white smile than just a brush and floss. Your oral hygiene affects your overall health. It's a proven fact.

Gum disease has now been linked to a variety of health issues such as strokes, diabetes, heart disease, and even heart disease. It couldn't be more important to take care of your teeth – but simply brushing twice a day and a bi-annual visit to the dentist won't cut it anymore.

Ways Of Boosting Your Oral Hygiene Daily Routine for Better Health

If you are going to drink foods in the morning such as orange juice that has acid in them – those drinks and foods temporarily soften the enamel of your teeth so if you immediately follow up with brushing, you can actually remove more of your enamel. So, wait a little while, say for about 30 to 60 minutes and let that settle.

Switching to a soft-bristled brush. Everyone pretty much knows you should change your toothbrush every two to three months, but if you are using a hard brush, consider replacing it, they are abrasive – and can cause long term damage over time. Along with that, you can start by brushing in the back and give it the attention it deserves.

It is a good idea to add some gum and mouthwash to your routine. Switch to an antimicrobial mouthwash and also to sugar-free gum, both help reduce the bacteria in your mouth and help to stimulate salivary flow.

Eat teeth whitening foods such as raw, coarse, fibrous foods like celery, cucumbers, apples, pears, maybe carrots and lettuce – it will help scrub the surface of the teeth and remove some of the plaque that has been accumulated.
