At Cane Bay Family Dentistry, we cannot stress enough the importance of regular appointments to help prevent lasting problems to your teeth. It is always better to prevent problems before the occur. However, that isn't always possible. That's where restorative dentistry comes in.

When we treat our valued patients with the many types of restorative dentistry procedures that we provide here, you can count on us being both compassionate and gentle when we address your dental concerns.

What is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry is a specialized type of dentistry that helps address any issues in your mouth that may impair their function. That means that if you have any dental concerns that may cause you pain or discomfort in your mouth or may reduce your ability to use your teeth comfortably, then you may be a candidate for restorative dentistry.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

In the past, the most popular type of dental filling material was called amalgam, which was a metal filling. We now prefer to treat our patients with tooth-colored fillings. They are natural looking and attractive and can be dyed to match your natural tooth color. They are also safe for patients with metal allergies and contain no mercury. The two most common materials that we use for a tooth-colored filling are called porcelain and composite resin.

Dental Crowns

Also known as caps, dental crowns are a great option for patients who have serious dental issues that cannot be treated with simple fillings. They can treat severe tooth decay, teeth that have been chipped or broken due to injury or trauma and can also conceal teeth that are uneven in size or color.

Dental Bridges

Fixed dental bridges are a type of permanent restoration can replace a missing tooth by “bridging” the gap left behind from the tooth. Unlike partial dentures, they cannot be removed to be cleaned and must be brushed and flossed to keep them clean. They look and feel natural and can improve speech, bite force, and appearance of your smile.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a surgical treatment for missing teeth. They are permanent and attractive and can last you your entire lifetime if you take good care of them. They have a 98 percent success rate and are strong, durable, and reliable treatment options for patients who have lost one or more tooth.

Dentures

Today’s dentures look and feel far more natural than older generations of dentures. A reliable and non-surgical option for patients, they remain a popular choice because they can deliver fast and attractive results. Dentures can restore a beautiful smile and make it easier to eat, chew, talk, and enjoy your day-to-day life without thinking about your teeth.

Root Canal Therapy

When an infection in a tooth has become so severe that the dental pulp has perished, the tooth is at risk of needing to be extracted. Root canal therapy is a treatment that can help save the affected tooth, allowing it to remain in your mouth. After a root canal, a tooth does need to be covered with a crown to keep it secure.
